Graduate School?
I really enjoy learning. I think I may want to take graduate school classes while working. I'd like to learn more about software including multi-threading etc.

NO! YOU CANNOT HAVE ME! I refuse to be controlled by you! You're NOT the most important!!!
I want to spend the next 4 hours doing stuff on the Internet. I just installed Kubuntu 9.04 and I want to configure it, install my usual Firefox extensions, research about atheism, do lots of blogging, etc. etc. etc.....
I DO NOT feel like that's what I truly want to do. Thinking about it, I'd rather read some of the Bible.
But the PULL!
It draws me in!
I was going to give in!
But I said NO!
I'm leaving!
You cannot have me!
I'll pulled the plug (to the screen)
You won't own me again!
Out the door I'm headed!
Out of reach of your power!
To the park and water I'll go!
And I think I'll be glad I told you NO!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Then, after I've done what's more important, I may spend a few hours on the Internet.
Wow! I forgot how strong of a pull that computers can have on me! Making me not want to pray or read the Bible. It's so hard to say no... I mean I could always read the Bible and pray tomorrow... and tomorrow.... and tomorrow.... and ....................

Is it possible to live life without compromising what you believe to be true?
Can I be consistent with what I believe?
I was asking myself this question early this morning.
Talking with some co-workers, I heard about a movie and book in which the character who refused to compromise was somewhat crazy, but better than the other messed up super-heroes in the novel.
I want to believe truth.
I want to follow the truth.
If it's true, it's worth following, but at what cost?
I believe God's truth is worth following at any cost.

What I believe leads to a life that has great potential for genuine fulfillment, forgiveness, and eternal life. What's so good about what you believe?
I read this today:
From "Discover the Power of One" by Michael Youssef, PhD
"...The world in which we live is established on false beliefs and anti-Christian values, but it's a materially excellent world. Can such a luxurious world be so bad? Can things that make you feel so good be wrong?
Just as Daniel and his friends eventually concluded, we must conclude that the pleasure and opulence of the world are a facade. The environment underneath the surface enticements is an environment that is hostile to Christ, not just indifferent to Christ. Although the world demands tolerance from Christians, the world isn't tolerant of Christians! The world insists that Christians become less judgmental, less righteous, less of their faith and their relationship with God, less certain of their evaluations of right and wrong. The pressure is often intense to become less Christian-- never is the pressure of the world to become more pure, more faithful or moral.
The glitz and glamour and bright lights of the world might blind a person temporally. The offer of pleasure may seem genuine and overpowering at times. But underneath is the seamy side of sin. It is a side the devil never shows right away--the side that leads to decay, destruction, and death. Sin doesn't reveal its hard edge initially, but the edge is always there. In Babylon, things may have appeared pleasurable and pleasant for the young captives, but underneath the surface was evil intent.
...
...We are called as Christians to challenge what other people hold as the status quo and the 'politically correct' belief. We are called as Christians to challenge any opinion or belief that does not exalt the Lord!
Rather than roll over and play dead when others criticize you for believing in God and advocating a godly way of living, rise up and say, 'What's so good about what you as a non-Christian believe? What I believe leads to a life of inner peace, purpose, joy, and satisfaction. What I believe leads to a life that has great potential for genuine fulfillment, forgiveness, and eternal life. What's so good about what you believe?"

Am I a legalist?
Or are there Biblically sound reasons to dis-obey certain agricultural laws?
I just don't know...
I need to pray and research.

Family is more important than fame.
Mother: "This is my chance at the Supreme court"-- Come What May
Son: "Or divorce court"

I NEVER want to get divorced!
If (hopefully when) I get married, I plan to never sign divorce papers with my own hand. Never. I plan to get married for life, no matter what.
